Attention to any singer who lives in the Lindley Park area: please let me know by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org if you would be willing and able to offer a ride to another singer.
And a special note — thanks to all of you for all of your support over the past 65 years. After 65 years of taking music to the community, the time to end has come. The Messiah performance on November 27 will be our last concert; the group will disband after that. Again, thank you for supporting us over the years.

On Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery, there will be a Memorial Day service sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 53. This service honors those local members of the military, active and retired, who died this past year. The service usually lasts no more than 45 minutes. GOS members are invited to come sing, as a group, familiar patriotic songs such as My Country ‘Tis of Thee, America the Beautiful, and God Bless America. Music will be provided when you arrive. As this event is scheduled on a holiday weekend, I am aware that some of you will be traveling. We will need enough volunteers to cover all of the voice parts.
If you are in town and willing, please be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3901 Forest Lawn Drive, by 1:40 pm. If you can, please wear red, white, and blue. Here is a link with information about Forest Lawn Cemetery: http://www.greensboro-nc.gov/index.aspx?page=1113
Thanks in advance to everyone who comes to sing!
Due to the unpredictability of the temperatures this evening and not knowing what the road conditions will be at 9:00 this evening, we have decided to cancel rehearsal tonight. Please practice with Cyberbass or with a keyboard, if you have one, this week. Looking forward to seeing all of you next week.
This spring, our group will be presenting Elijah (part 2) by Felix Mendelssohn. We would love to see you at one of our concerts, as listed below. The concerts are free; donations accepted.

Rehearsal for the spring season began last week; there was a small
group that braved the threatening weather conditions and came to
sing. We will have rehearsal tonight, Monday, January 15, from 7:30pm
to 9:00pm at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church, 4800 W. Friendly Avenue
in Greensboro, and we will rehearsal every Monday night through
April. This spring, our group is planning to sing the oratorio
Elijah, part 2. We welcome singers of all voice parts, and especially
tenors and basses. The only cost is for the music, if you do not
already have a copy of the score.
Our performances will be on Sundays in late April at churches in the
Greensboro area. Please think about singing with us for the Spring
2018 season and help our group perform Elijah! If you have questions,
send an email to email@example.com. Come sing with the Greensboro
Oratorio Singers this spring!
This is the forecast I just copied from the WGHP website, at 4:30 pm: “This evening will be above freezing, but still chilly outside! Temperatures will be in the mid-30’s. There will be patchy, light rain in the forecast with brief sleeting possible.” We WILL have our first spring rehearsal this evening, at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church, beginning at 7:30. If you do not feel comfortable coming out to the rehearsal this evening, please do not come. Will see you if you come tonight, and if you don’t come, hope to see you next Monday!
