This spring, we are planning to sing Brahms’ Requiem. In order to present this piece, we will need a large choir with all voice parts, and especially tenors and basses, represented. Rehearsals will begin on Monday, January 11, 2016, and continue on Monday evenings through February, March, and April, from 7:30pm to 9:00pm at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church, 4800 W. Friendly Avenue in Greensboro. Our performances will be in late April and early May, most likely on Sunday afternoons/early evenings. Please think about singing with us for the Spring 2016 season and help our group perform Brahms’ Requiem! You can indicate your interest in singing with us this spring by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Come sing with the Greensboro Oratorio Singers this spring!
Friendly Avenue Baptist Church will be closed this evening, due to the impending weather event. So, we will not have the board meeting at 6:30 or rehearsal at 7:30. The board meeting will be rescheduled and we will have rehearsal next Monday evening. Stay warm and safe!
This spring, our group is rehearsing Seasons (A Choral Song Cycle) by Andy Beck and Missa Festiva by John Leavitt. Our concert schedule for this spring has changed; more information will be posted when plans are finalized.
On Sunday, May 25, 2014 at 2:00pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery, there will be a Memorial Day service sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 53 that honors those local members of the military, active and retired, who died this past year. GOS members are invited to come sing, as a group, familiar patriotic songs such as “America the Beautiful” and “God Bless America.” Music will be provided when you arrive on Sunday. As this event is scheduled on a holiday weekend, I am aware that some of you will be traveling. We will need enough volunteers to cover all of the voice parts. If you are in town and willing, please be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3901 Forest Lawn Drive, by 1:40pm. If you can, please wear red, white, and blue. Here is a link with information about Forest Lawn Cemetery and giving directions: http://www.greensboro-nc.gov/index.aspx?page=1113
Thanks in advance to everyone who comes
