Dates for Fall 2017 — Mark your calendar now!

We are taking a break over the summer to rest and rejuvenate for the coming fall season. However, September will be here very soon, when we will again begin rehearsals. We would love to have you come sing with us this fall!

Please mark your calendar with these dates:
We will begin rehearsing for our fall season on Monday, September 11 at 7:30pm in the choir room at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church (4800 W. Friendly Avenue). No auditions are required and there is no registration fee. Our performances are scheduled for Sunday, October 15 at 4:00pm at River Landing Retirement Community and for Sunday, October 22 at 7:00pm at Friends Home West.

Our rehearsals for the Messiah will be on Mondays October 30, and November 6, 13, 20, and 27. The dress rehearsal will be on Thursday, November 30 (this date has changed!). The Messiah concert will be on Saturday, December 2 at 7:00pm at Christ UMC on Holden Road.

Come sing with the Greensboro Oratorio Singers this fall. Sing with us in October to take music to area retirement communities and then stay with us to perform the Messiah in early December!

Opportunities to sing for the remainder of 2017—

On Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery, there will be a Memorial Day service sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 53. This service honors those local members of the military, active and retired, who died this past year. The service usually lasts no more than 45 minutes. GOS members are invited to come sing, as a group, familiar patriotic songs such as My Country ‘Tis of Thee, America the Beautiful, and God Bless America. Music will be provided when you arrive. As this event is scheduled on a holiday weekend, I am aware that some of you will be traveling. We will need enough volunteers to cover all of the voice parts. If you are in town and willing, please be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3901 Forest Lawn Drive, by 1:40 pm. If you can, please wear red, white, and blue.
