Memorial Day Service

On Sunday, May 26 at 2:00pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery, there will be a Memorial Day service sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 53 that honors those local members of the military, active and retired, who died this past year. GOS members are invited to come sing, as a group, familiar patriotic songs such as “America the Beautiful” and “God Bless America.” Music will be provided when you arrive on Sunday. As this event is scheduled on a holiday weekend, I am aware that some of you will be traveling. We will need enough volunteers to cover all of the voice parts. If you are in town and willing, please be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3901 Forest Lawn Drive, by 1:40pm. If you can, please wear red, white, and blue. Here is a link with information about Forest Lawn Cemetery and giving directions: http://www.greensboro-nc.gov/index.aspx?page=1113
Thanks in advance to everyone who comes!

Thanks! and the Memorial Day Program

Here at the end of the 2011-2012 GOS season, it is time to say THANKS! to everyone who came to Peace United Church of Christ Monday night, May 7, for food, fellowship, and a silent auction with a little live auctioneering thrown in for good measure. We had fun and raised some money to support our group’s operations. Thank you to everyone who has supported our group this year, in whatever way — by singing, by donating time and/or money, and by showing up for rehearsals and performances. It takes all of us working together to make this thing work!

This is also an invitation to the last scheduled event for our group until September. On Sunday, May 27 at 2:00pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery, there will be a Memorial Day program sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary Unit 53 that honors those local members of the military who gave their lives for our country this past year. GOS members are invited to come sing familiar patriotic songs such as “America the Beautiful” and “God Bless America.” As this event is scheduled on a holiday weekend, I am aware that some of you will be traveling. We will need enough volunteers to cover all of the voice parts. If you are in town and available, please be at Forest Lawn Cemetery by 1:30pm. Thanks in advance to everyone who comes!

Have a great summer! We will begin again in the fall on Monday, September 10 at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church.
